Telepathic Bond

Cia, thank you very much for having me. I'm here to talk about my new release, The Wolf and His Diva, a m/m shape-shifter romance which was published by Dreamspinner Press on March 12th.

In The Wolf and His Diva, the two main characters, George and Billy, are deeply attuned to each other. They share a telepathic bond that grows throughout the story. These two trust each other and have mutual empathy. George and Billy “talk” to each other via their telepathy. That means they communicate not only via the spoken language but also through their feelings for each other, as well as images and desires.

The telepathy has its advantages but, of course, also its disadvantages because if the bond is strong than privacy can become an issue. George and Billy can't hide their feelings or desires from each other and that's bound to bring some friction into their relationship, especially when one of them wants to keep something to himself...

It was great fun to explore the telepathic bond between George and Billy, how they responded to each other's feelings and desires. I've brought an excerpt with me that'll allow you a glimpse into their special relationship. I hope you'll enjoy it!

Blurb:

George Owens is comfortable with his life just the way it is. A wolf- and fox-shifter, George leads a reclusive lifestyle with his energetic and diva-ish mate Billy, a fox-and squirrel-shifter.

George has no desire to take over leadership of the pack, despite his father’s wishes. Edward Owens is feeling his age and wants to make sure the pack is in good hands should he not be able to win his next challenge. However, George is adamant that he wants no part of it.

But events rock George from his complacency, and he realizes he has to take a stand and fight for what he cares about. If he remains in the past and cannot change in order to do what he must, he risks losing everything he loves.

Excerpt from Chapter Four:

“Want me to tell you a secret?”

“Hmm.” George’s neck muscles corded, which would surely result in a headache later. Still, he forced himself to ask, “What secret?”

“How I always know when you’re thinking cheesy stuff?”

The tension in his neck released with surprising force. George aimed for his usual tone when he retorted, “Why does it have to be cheesy?”

“Every time you think, um, romantic stuff, I’m tingling all over and there’s warmth spreading from my gut to the rest of my body. It feels like… like a surge of heat, and the intensity of it always catches me off guard.”

George turned around so he could face Billy. “I didn’t know that. Why don’t I ever feel like this?”

Billy stared at him, then closed his eyes. George cocked his head to the side, certain Billy would be doing something soon. At first nothing happened. Just when he readied himself to open his mouth, sweat broke out on his skin. Warmth filled him from the inside and grew in intensity. He looked at his belly hidden beneath his sweater, wondering whether a flame would be flaring up while the comfortable warmth changed into fieriness. Gasping, he trembled from the hotness that traveled through his body, almost as if it wanted to devour him.

As fast as the sensation had hit him, it vanished, although a soft, comfortable tingle remained. He swayed on the spot as he asked breathlessly, “What was that?”

“Me thinking gooey stuff about you and me. I… usually clamp down on it because… well, it’s a tiny bit embarrassing, don’t you think?”

Billy squinted up at George, with cheeks that seemed to have almost the same color as his hair. George reached out and gently cupped Billy’s face in his hands. He stroked his thumbs along the prominent cheekbones, still reeling from the intensity of Billy’s feelings for him. Allowing himself permission to let go, his love for Billy surged through him.

He was rewarded with a shuddering intake of breath from Billy. A moment later, Billy freed his face from George’s hands and pressed it against George’s chest, breathing harshly and fast. “Oh, man, this is better than any orgasm.”

George laughed out loud, then wrapped his arms around Billy. “Think about how it would feel if we combine the sensations?”

“Are you sure we’d survive it?”

“How about we try it out?”
