Feature & Follow 9

Q: What is the last book that made you cry? Tell us about the scene…

A: Well, this happens more than most think. I don't cry when I write, though many of my authors friends do. I focus too much on the mechanics of showing the character's emotions to be that emotionally involved myself. But reading... I'm not longer myself when I read a good book, I'm in the character's life.

The last book to really make me cry was Keeping Promise Rock by Amy Lane. I re-read it the other day and when Deacon almost loses Crick, after all the shit they went through... epic emotion grabbing moment. The entire story is full of the shit life can hand you, without quite going overboard-imo. The 2nd and 3rd stories are great as well in the series, invoking tears at one point or another, but nothing on par with Deacon and Crick's moments.

Q: Activity! Who is your to-die-for book crush? What do you think they look like? Add an image to make us all happy.

A: Definitely James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser. Seriously, I read Outlander for the first time when I was 11, and while I typically don't like redheads in reality, omg does he just sound like an ideal man all around, even with all his faults!

I saw this fanart done (It is actually model Travis Fimmel) and thought it was actually a pretty good representation.

Q: Books are turned into movies all the time! Turn it around. What movie would make a great book?

A: I've always wanted to see the dynamics behind the scenes in Willow. That was my first movie I can remember loving as a kid and the world is so incredibly rich with various mythos. The characters are multi-dimensional on screen but I'd love to see Mad Martigan's change to a good guy from a selfish prick as well as Sorcha's and the true evil of Bavmorda.

And who wouldn't want to see this in their head? YUM

Q: What is a deal breaker for you in a book? For example, do you abhor love triangles? Or can’t deal with bad editing?

A: Lack of basic research. Especially when it pertains to specific locations a story is set in. If you are going to use a real city as a plot setting, have the respect to your readers to actually do some research on it. I once read a book where an Oregon city was placed in Washington instead and don't even get me started on 50 Shades where Portland is apparently in Washington between Vancouver and Seattle. *rolls eyes* Look at a damn map! At the VERY least!!

Feature and Follow 4

Gain Book Blog Followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers — but you have to know — the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

Q: When you step out of your USUAL genre what do you like to read? Best books in that genre?

A. Well, I don't really have 1 genre. I read all sorts of books. I do prefer paranormal varieties but I also like modern, science fiction, fantasy, some historical... I like Diana Gabaldon's Outlander for historical, Jean Auel's Earth Children, though Plains of Passage is my fav for historical fantasy, Dan Brown's whole series for modern/intrigue, Anne McCaffrey's Pern and Crystal Singer series for fantasy/sci-fi, Laurann Dohner's New Species series for modern/fantasy, Cardeno C's Home series for modern, Amy Lane for modern... Honestly, I could care less about 'genre' except for avoiding horror books.

Q: What book do you think would make a great Halloween movie? Please explain in graphic detail of goriness…

A. Nope, not going there. No thinking about it, won't read it, won't watch it.
Eeeks!

Q of the Week: What do you hope to accomplish with your blog? Is it to one day become an author yourself, just for fun, maybe get some online attention, or maybe something very different?

A: Well, I like to interact with my readers. This is just one more place to let me do that, as well as connecting with other authors outside of the websites we all post free fiction on. I've made some great friends through my blog as well. That, and I can add in a few of the other things I like to use to occupy my time, like reviews for stories that I've read as well as my photography.

Friday Feature and Follow

Just found this new Friday Feature and Follow blog ... hoppish, thing! Okay, so I'm horrible at networking, but I'm trying. Hopefully this will bring me some great new blogs to follow about writing, or stories, or editing, or stories... and I'll find a few new fans as well!

So... on to the matter at hand...
Q: What hyped up book do you think was worth all the talk? A: Gotta go with The Hunger Games. I'm guessing most did, it really is one of the biggest of the year.

And now... on to the huge list of the other blogs participating... it's insane, it's so long!
