My Interview at Decadent Delights!

So, ever wondered why I do what I do? How do I write what I write? Who helps me craft my stories into the works they are?

Okay, I'm sure you're not spending ALL your time wondering about those things, but if you're at all interested, check out the interview I did for MA Church featured on her blog Decadent Delights. You can get a peek at my inner workings through the link in the image above.  *hides*

A big thanks to M for asking me to do the interview, I'm still getting used to people actually caring about my writing enough to want to know these things! While you're on her blog check out all the links, I love her feature story 'The Yellow Rope', it's hot and sweet all at the same time!

Cia's Reviews

So... recently I've been reading a few different stories and I thought I'd share them with you while you wait for my own stories to appear. Happy Reading!

Social Skills by Kingdom by the Sea
I'm lucky enough on GA to have access to the Premium content stories and I read Social Skills. One of the most popular novel length stories on GA, this college age mm story is full of drama and angst, but it is not overdone. You can just imagine that Connor and Jared are real guys out there living life and learning how to be themselves. The story has a few typos left in it, but it is under revision.  I hear that it will be available for purchase by the author in the upcoming months, if you don't have access to GA Premium content.

  * If you like mm college age stories and are looking for a free one, may I suggest Quonus 10's story, Second Shot. At almost 300k, this story is LONG and full of everything you'd expect in a mm college story, yet manages to avoid being cliche. With hundreds of followers, this story is right near the top of the site's favorites list.

The Battle Lord's Lady by Linda Mooney
Priced at 3.99 and at 113k, this story is worth it even if you have to buy it! I was lucky enough to get it free through an ARe promotion, which just made this read all the sweeter. Set 300 years in the future, this mf fantasy romance chronices the way the lives of the 'Mutah' (mutant) woman Atty and the 'Normal' Battlelord Yulen meet amid bloodshed between their two kind. What a person 'knows' isn't always the truth, but getting others to change their mind and get past generations of blind hatred is a change their world for the better is a daunting task, one that might claim their lives.  I really enjoyed the futuristic, yet medieval, feel of this book and the characters were boldly written.

Tiger by Laurann Dohner
What can I say? I was addicted to her New Species series from the very first book. Tiger is a strong supporting character in quite of a few of the series up to his own book, and I was looking forward to seeing just how he was going to fall. He did too, hard and fast, when he meets Zandra. The last few books had gotten a tad stale but I really enjoyed this one and the action interspered with moments between Tiger and Zandra that had me fanning my face before I spontaneously combusted. Erotic, and romantic, this ebook was a must read even at full book price.

Forgotten Soul by Tasha D-Drake
Frankly, I got this short story because it was free. I read it because I had nothing else waiting to be read. I enjoyed it because it was NOT what I expected at all. I don't want to give anything away, because I feel you have to read this book without any misconceptions from the description in order to really enjoy it. A vampire style paranormal fantasy with some other elements thrown in, I really liked the twist and the evolution of the characters, which is amazing since the short story is only 10k.

Hypnotic Ch. 18

Woo hoo! Party!

*dances*
(yes, I'd look that spastic if I actually danced, gods I'm uncoordinated!)

I told you I was back! Hypnotic Ch. 18 is now posted on GA! It'll be combined with Ch. 17 into Ch. 9 for Literotica (confusing I know, they get 2 chapters together on that site to make them longer) and should post on there in a few days.

I hope you like it. More will be coming soon. Feel free to join GA if you want to leave a review or comment in my forum there, lol, or drop me a line here. I don't mind critiques, comments, raves (the nice kind, or I shall laugh at you, muahahahaha)... you get the picture!

To Be Published!

So it's official! I signed the contract with Romance First Publishing to have an expanded version of Pricolici e-published!! It'll be a while before I get a publish date, but we're looking at the end of summer, beginning of the fall I believe. I'm so excited and wanted to share.  *doing a little boogie*

Spring is Here!

So, I went with my daughter and best friend to a Tulip Fest today. Cloudy when I got up, the day quickly cleared and turned quite nice, a rare occurence in Washington State, let me tell you. Last weekend it was nice for Easter as well, I'm quite shocked to be truthful.

However, that let me get a few shots that got me thinking and stirred my creative juices, especially the statuary. Don't worry, I've filed those under my plot bunnies folder; I won't get distracted from finishing Hypnotic and The Experiment. I thought you guys might like to see a few though.

I hope you enjoyed those! Come back tomorrow for an installment of The Experiment!

Hypnotic Update Soon! Plus a peek at The Pearl.

I've finished the next chapter of Hypnotic, but it is with my beta/editor. She should have it done in the next few days so that's in the works. I have also scheduled time to write on The Experiment tomorrow and Sunday morning so I hope to post on Sunday.

For today... I hope you enjoy this flash fiction piece I wrote. There is a question for the ending for you as the reader.

The Pearl

It was buzzing again; the feeling made me squirm in my desk as my tight pocket held the small round object firmly against me. Aukai hadn’t told me what would happen when he first gave it to me. The first time I found it in my pocket had been the strangest thing; I hadn’t known what to do with it. Now that I knew what it would do; it was exciting.

“Mr. O’Connely! Is there a problem?” Ms. Beckett turned her beady eyed stare at me.

“Uh, no ma’am. Sorry.” I ducked my head and stared at my desk. The last thing I needed was her to make me go to the office. I didn’t think standing up was a good thing. I hated being a hormonal teenager.
I hated sitting at my desk in school when I could be out swimming or body surfing. Or with Aukai.

The vibrating started again.  I fought the urge to squirm as the old bat droned on about participles. Who cares about that? Really, did she think any of us were listening? School had barely started and the rest of the teachers were going easy on us but Ms. Beckett, oh no, not her. She handed back the tests she made us take yesterday and I looked at the big red F at the top of the page.

Great! My dad was gonna be thrilled. I grimaced and shoved it into my backpack. At least I had an excuse to move around, the vibrating was getting worse as it grew stronger. I watched the clock like I was afraid time would begin to go backward. Each tick felt like an eternity.

The bell finally rang and I bolted out of class. I didn’t even take the time to put my English book away; I just left it on my desk. I’d get a lecture from Ms. Beckett on Monday but who cares? It was Friday, Dad is gone for the whole weekend on a ‘business trip’ and I had… things, to do.

I jogged home, too eager to wait for the bus. I dumped my stuff on my bed and left just as fast as I came in. The beach out back was private, secluded on both sides by tall jetties so no one could see me. I stripped off my shirt and then dug my hand into my pocket.

Opening my palm and stared down at the round pearl about the size of a quarter. It was huge, buzzing almost impatiently, and beginning to grow hot. The first time it happened I had no idea what holding it in my hand would do. Now… now I couldn’t wait.

I waded out in the surf up to my chest, my jeans getting soaked and sticking to my skin. That didn’t matter though. They’d be gone in moments. Slowly, I lowered the pearl into the water. Light flashed under the surface and a tingle ran from the palm of my hand into my body. It raced through me and I shivered, biting back a moan. It felt so good.

I slipped under the water to complete the change as my fingers grew webs, my legs became a strong blue tail and I began to breathe through gills in the side of my neck. I flipped my hand over, the pearl just a shining tattoo on my palm.  The wonder and sense of freedom I felt the first time flooded me again when I felt hands brush across my waist. His green tail twined around mine.

‘I thought you’d never get here,’ he sent me.

I turned my head and kissed him, just barely slipping my tongue between his lips to tease him. I reached back and hugged him closer to feel his strong chest against my bare back. We drifted in the water out to sea.

‘I’ll always come back to you, Aukai. You saved my life and I fell in love with you.’

I felt his mental sigh. ‘I hoped you’d be ready to stay with me by now. It’s just… the pearl won’t work forever.’

I pulled away, flexing my tail to stay in place as I faced him. ‘What do you mean? Why won’t it work? You said it would let us be together.’

‘The magic only works for one turning of the moon.’

I stared at him. ‘But that’s today! You never… you didn’t…’ I could feel my gills working as I began to panic. ‘Why wouldn’t you tell me this before?’

He held out a hand to me, the almost translucent webbing between his fingers rippled from the movement of the water. ‘I didn’t want to pressure you but I don’t want to lose you either. You have to make a choice. Will you live on land with the humans or will you stay here with me?’

I couldn’t believe this. I blinked, feeling the warmth as tears slid down my face. I couldn’t lose Aukai. In the month we had come to know each other I felt more for him that anyone I had on land. My dad was always gone, I had few friends at school and none of those were close to me. But to never walk on land again; to live my life beneath the water? Could I do it?

Aukai waited; his patience as I fought with my fears and my wants was as steady as ever. He had shown me the wonders of his world and I felt more love from him than anyone since my mom died. I stared into his large green eyes and made my decision.

So . . . What would you do? Stay with Aukai or go back to what you've known your whole life?

hi!

Thanks to everyone who has emailed or pm'ed or messaged me here, there and everywhere on the web! I'm functioning again, though not much at any one time before the difficulty breathing makes me too tired. However, I am finally starting to get well enough not to fall asleep when I sit down at the computer for more than 20 minutes. I should be writing and posting again very soon! Thank you so much for your patience and understanding, especially since my stories are at such exciting times.
