Blurb:
Their journey will span the universe and back, but there’s no guarantee they’ll make it together.
Though Nick and Fieo are drawn to each other, their relationship has never been easy. Their differences go beyond their races, but they’ve managed to work together to prevent the spread of corruption, growing closer along the way. Nick still battles the effects of years of loneliness, fear, and pain but surprises everyone when he refuses to stay behind when Fieo is sent on a vital mission to find the Collectors. Fieo objects, but there’s no stopping Nick when he sets his mind to something. Over the course of their mission, it becomes clear Nick is more than anyone ever imagined, but the mystery of his past threatens to derail his future.
The search for the truth will take Fieo and Nick far from Caeorleia, to worlds both familiar and completely alien, and put stress on their already tenuous relationship. It’s a journey that will either tear them apart or finally bring them together.
Excerpt:
“Can
you explain how you know that?” I’d only just seen the black organ for myself.
The Collector said it had to do with the ancient race and that I was special,
but all I saw was something that scared the shit out of me. “How is that thing
supposed to help me save a being the size of an entire planet? Compared to you,
I am miniscule, nothing.”
Fieo
pinned me with a look. “You are not
nothing.” I broke his stare, unable to hold it. “You are my whole world.” What
I saw in his gaze was raw emotion, more than passion and want, and I could
sense his feelings for me though the bond like a wave washing over me.
I
swallowed hard, closing my eyes. All that love, for me, was overwhelming. I
tried to share my feelings back with him, all the love and gratitude that he
was part of my life, no matter what I’d endured before we met.
The
being looked from me to him at Fieo’s fierce objection. “I can sense you,
through him. You care very much.”
“We’re
joined in besedad. He is my tziu. I would do anything for him.” Fieo
spoke quietly, his hum full of conviction.
She
stared at him, but then nodded. “I will try to use terms you will understand.
Your form is somewhat familiar, but so much is different.”
Was the being rifling around in my body and my mind? The thought sent a
shudder down my spine. Why did I keep getting caught up in situations where
aliens mucked about in my brain at will?

A lovely cover showing an intimate moment between Nick and Fieo. A superb job in the coloring of the characters.
ReplyDeleteThis was supposed to go live tomorrow!! Hiding again. Sorry!
DeleteI love the cover of this series! I don't read much sci-fi but this one is definitely one of the best, great characters and world building. I look forward to reading it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Serena. I'm never sure if Chris can top the last cover, but somehow she always manages to make the newest cover my favorite, lol! I'm so glad you enjoy the series, and I hope you'll love Cosmic Inception just as much.
DeleteYeah! I love this story and I really want to read it again.
ReplyDeleteAwww, thanks! It's a lot cleaner now.
DeleteYay! I was so thrilled to see this; I love this series. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shawn! I've been so eager to share the amazing cover, it's been hard to wait, lol.
DeleteAnd my favorite aliens are from Gini Koch's Alien series. Gorgeous aliens from Alpha Centaur fighting to save earth from parasitic superbeings from space. Sounds crazy, and it is - fast, furious, and fun.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of that, so I looked it up. Looks like an interesting mash up speculative fiction!
DeleteAbsolutely love this series. Now, how long until book four? 😉. LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathy but Chip is NOT cooperating. :( He has a specific genetic/technological makeup that is making writing from his POV right now almost impossible. I'm working on it though, and while chatting with a perfect stranger at a summer's beginning BBQ I got a great idea on how to move forward. Yay! I just don't want you guys to end up having to wait for chapters.
DeleteFavorite aliens? Well, originally E.T. (Yes, I saw it when it first came out). I read so much sci-fi as a teen and young adult and even now that it is hard to pick. I admit to being quite partial to Lisanne Norman's Sholan Alliance series (whole host of aliens in that) and have been waiting for the last book for close to a decade it seems. The first alien I remember reading about was in Alan Dean Foster's "Nor Crystal Tears" which I think was the first book I read by him. I am guessing I was probably 13 at the time. Wait, no, does The Little Prince count as an alien? I have too many favorites. I am going to go read now.
ReplyDeleteOh! I had a copy of the 2nd book in the Sholan series as a kid and loooved it. I've still never read the first book, lol. I have the whole series now though, just need to go back and read it. And I don't think there's a person alive who doesn't like ET! (If they do, we can sick kid-version of Drew Barrymore on them--she was too cute!)
DeleteGuess my other posting was a bit early. To answer the question, my favorite alien would Dr. Who.
ReplyDeleteI would've counted it, lol. Somehow I messed up the dating on the post. :( I've *gasps* never watched Dr. Who!! (some of my daughters friends are rabid fans and I don't dare tell them for fear of the pre-teen scorn.)
DeleteWell, I loved Alf and E.T. They are aliens, right? I don't read a lot of sci-fi though but I liked Ondry and the Rownt community from Lyn Gala's "Claimings" series
ReplyDeleteYep, they are! From Melmac and I dunno for ET... "home" I guess, lol. The Rownt culture is fascinating in Lyn's series, definitely. :)
