Today, extra thanks goes to Julie Hayes. Not only was she the final editor on the piece and helped bring it to a final polish, she has helped me promo the book online and is even hosting me as a featured author (with some very interesting question, lol) on her blog, Full Moon Dreaming, today! Okay, down to business. Would  you like another little sneak peek at what's inside the story? I bet you would! Check out the excerpt below, and then keep going to find the links to the sites where you can purchase Pricolici for yourself!

Excerpt:

Stelian moved faster than Tucker could see. He pushed Tucker against the wall and pinned him there with one leg on either side of him. His growls vibrated against Tucker’s bare chest, and the soft leather of Stelian’s vest made his nipples harden painfully.

He was so damn big! Tucker froze as he stared at the lupe's chin. He didn't raise his eyes and kept his chin tucked; he wasn't offering his throat to the male.

"Do you really want to go?" Stelian asked huskily.

"Yes." Tucker was panting. The second their skin touched, Stelian's lust hit him as hard as it had earlier. It tightened things in his stomach, but instead of hurting him or making him feel sick like the bartender had he felt… he felt ….

Shaking his head, Tucker put his hands on Stelian's shoulders. He shoved, trying to push the lupe away, but the large male didn't move. "I do want to leave. Alone. I won’t come back."

The snarl was loud in his ear. “Unacceptable. I think you want a lot of things, little lupe, but leaving here without me isn't one of them. I can smell your lust, your need. You will be mine and you know it."

He was half against the door and half against the wall. The small pain of the hinge biting into his lower back barely registered. Tucker’s cock was rigid, almost painfully hard, inside his tight pants. He felt none of the revulsion the other lupes who’d pinned him had made him feel. If anything, he wanted to rub Stelian’s spicy scent all over his body.

Stelian shoved his face against Tucker's throat, and then ran his nose up the smooth column. The smaller male's head fell back. Tucker didn't realize it at first, but his hands had gone from pressing flat against Stelian's shoulders to curling around them to pull the hot male closer.

Stelian chuckled, and the sound vibrated against Tucker's skin and made him whimper. One large hand buried in Tucker's reddish gold hair.

"You want me."

"No," Tucker moaned.

"Then why are you rubbing your cock against me?"

Whew! Hot!!!

Okay, so, now that I've teased you ... are you ready to buy? You can find Pricolici for sale at:

Wednesday Briefs: Never More Lonely Part 2

That's right, by popular decision... Cooper and Owen are back in this week's Wednesday Brief. This time, we're seeing the story through Cooper's eyes. I hope you like this week's installment of my flash story!

Never More Lonely

"La petite morte. Suffer the ravages daily!" Owen smirks as he reads my luggage sticker. Our first kiss, even one that amazing, had to end sometime. I am still snuggled in his arms though, the place I've wanted to be for a long time now.

I grin. "Well they say to put something distinctive on your luggage so you know it’s yours."

"That'll do it." His laugh turns into a yawn.

It is past late, almost early morning. "Sorry. You must be exhausted, mate, and you have to work in a few hours."

His thumb brushes under my eye, the callous rough on my skin. "You look pretty tired yourself."

"A kid kept kicking my seat." I bite the inside of my lip. "Should we go to bed? I need to adjust to the time zone before I go to work on Monday anyway."

Owen looks at the clock. "I think I'll call in sick first. Then we can sleep in." He shows me the bathroom. "You can shower if you want, Cooper."

Feeling a little strange, I take a shower using Owen's soap and shampoo, then wrap my body in his towel. I don't need to shave, even after a day and a half, but my teeth feel furry. I brush them and then pull on a pair of shorts to sleep in. It’s much warmer here than back home.

Owen is in bed when I come out. I hesitate in the doorway, unsure of where I’m sleeping. Even though I've just taken a drink, my mouth is dry. Too bad my palms aren't; I wipe them on my shorts.

"Hey," Owen says. He lifts up the blanket and he still has his pants on. I slip into the bed dressed, enjoying the feeling of the cool sheets as I settle down onto a pillow.

"Turn off the light, will you?" Owen speaks softly in my ear.

"Yeah." Darkness fell over the room. I wondered if he was thinking about sex too. This might be our first meeting in person, but I know my Owen. I know he likes to drink tea at night and coffee in the morning.  His hair is short so it won't curl. He works hard as a construction foreman, but he likes to carve custom walking sticks too.

On weekends his favorite thing is to go hiking. Well, besides sleeping. Owen loves to sleep.

He yawns and then those inches separating our bodies disappears. His chest feels warm and hard against my back. He smoothes down my hair and then kisses my neck.

I shiver.

"Mmm. You smell like me." He nuzzles me. "I like it."

I caress the arm he drapes over my chest. "Me too," I said. I tilt my hips back, pressing into him. He grunts when my ass brushes against his erection. His lips, so warm and soft, kiss a line along my shoulder.

I expect him to rub against me, for his hand slide down and under the waistband of my shorts, but he doesn't.

He sighs. "Sleep. Tomorrow we can talk and I can show you around."

I'm tired enough not to argue.

****

Light shining on my face wakes me up. I've thrown off the covers, but Owen is still tight to my back. It feels good, better than anything I've felt in a long time. I don't want to move, but I have to pee. I squirm out from under Owen's arm and use the bathroom.

Back into bed, Owen's arm falls over me again. "Morning," he said.

"Sorry if I woke you up early."

Owen looks at the clock and makes a noise. "Nah, it's already nine."

"Do you want to get up?"

"Not exactly." His hips nudge me; I feel his erection rub along my crack. I whimper.

"Cooper?"

I don't care if we just met in person. I roll over in his arms, looking in his dark eyes. He has stubble across his cheeks. I let him feel my cock standing stiff and straining my shorts.

Our second kiss is longer than our first. I stretch up and lean over him as he rolls onto his back, never letting our lips separate. His hands rub up and down my back. Panting, I pull back. My balls ache. "Do you have ... ?"

Owen nods at the drawer. "Condoms there." He slides off the bed. "I'll be right back."

I hear the shower curtain slide and then the water runs and the toilet flushes. He’s naked and holding a bottle of lube when he comes back. I chuckle.

"Extra long showers, right?"

He grins but I can't speak anymore as I watch him stalk toward the bed.

In seconds I am under him, both of us too needy for foreplay. The lube’s cold.  I hiss, but he is warm as he pushes inside. He moves too quickly and I wince.

"Sorry." He slows, inching inside me, grimacing at the slow agony. Gradually I relax and he moves faster. I moan and my cock slaps against my stomach as my hips rock with his rhythm.

I can't stop touching his chest and shoulders. He reaches for me. "Soon," he gasps. I nod frantically as his slick palm slides up and down my cock roughly.

"Fuck!" I kick my head back against the pillows as I shoot, cum painting my chest. He groans, then shoves hard. I ache but then he is coming and I'm fascinated by the bliss that sends a flush across his cheeks.

We both lay limp and boneless with satiated pleasure. "La petite morte." He chuckles.

****

After resting for a little while, we clean up. My stomach rumbles as I pull on jeans and a t-shirt. "Want to go get breakfast?" Owen offers. "Then I can show you around."

His hand rests on my lower back. I can’t believe I’m finally here, with Owen. It's a good thing I plan to stay; I'd never be able to leave him.

"That sounds great."

TBC

Well... *fans self* hot enough for you? *wink* Come back next week for more of Owen and Cooper's story. In the meantime, check out these other great Briefers and their stories!

Reading Reviews: Ethan, Who Loved Carter and Little Man

Today I wanted to share a review from a recent ebook read, as well as a free WIP from Gay Authors from a new author. I hope you check them out, you won't regret either choice!

I haven't read this author before, but she isn't new. She has other stories available, which can be found on her Goodreads page. But, I picked this one to read and it was worth every penny.

Carter decides he's had enough of big city life and moves to a small town in hopes that it will be a better environment for him. His tics and stutter make people react to him in a negative way, but he can't help it. Tourettes is hell for him to live with and he's pulled away from most people because of it.

Until he meets Ethan.

Ethan's had his own challenges in life, but he has an indomitable spirit. But Carter isn't sure that being with Ethan is the right thing, for either of them. Will Ethan be able to change his mind?

You can find out where to purchase this ebook at the author's goodreads page, as well as check out some more reviews from other readers. With 4.53 out of 5 stars, I was worried about a lot of hype, but this story really met my expectations and more.

Little Man by Mann Ramblings

So, Mann joined GA and promptly posted his first chapter. I was so intrigued by the characters, and enjoyed the first chapter so much, that I offered to beta read for him until he could find a dedicated beta/editor.

Little Man, aka Clay, is an artist. Still in college, he lives with his friend Eric, his friend from grade school.  One night they host a party. Normally Little Man isn't into parties, but he drinks a little much at this one and his artistic side overcomes his reticence and he begins drawing tattoos on people with markers.

The last person to get a LM original is Ogre, one of Eric's teammates. The party is over, but things are just heating up. Ogre's always seemed completely straight but as Little Man becomes more and more involved in his creation, things heat up between them in unexpected ways.

But was it just a drunken one night fling? Can a jock overcome his own fears? What will Eric say?

Now, I know we have all read college fiction before. It's really common. But something about the writing, and the personalities of these characters really did it for me. Of course, having a great hook helps and boy did this grab my attention:

“Little Man, stop spending so much time on my cock and get finished already.”

I always hated that nickname, but let's be honest: who ever gets to choose that sort of thing?

LOL. Yep, definite attention getter. I bet you're wondering what's going on, right? Well, he's already posted 3 chapters and Mann's posting a new chapter each week. You can find him and follow the story on Gay Authors.

Friday Feature and Follow

Just found this new Friday Feature and Follow blog ... hoppish, thing! Okay, so I'm horrible at networking, but I'm trying. Hopefully this will bring me some great new blogs to follow about writing, or stories, or editing, or stories... and I'll find a few new fans as well!

So... on to the matter at hand...
Q: What hyped up book do you think was worth all the talk? A: Gotta go with The Hunger Games. I'm guessing most did, it really is one of the biggest of the year.

And now... on to the huge list of the other blogs participating... it's insane, it's so long!

Pricolici Has a Publishing Date!!!!

Isn't that cover gorgeous! That was created by the very talented (and patient) Mika Starr.

As you can tell by the many exclamation points in the above title, I'm excited. I have the publication date for Pricolici! Next Friday, Sept. 28th!!! I can't thank everyone at RFP enough for all their help taking this story to a new level and polishing it up until it was just as perfect as we could get it! I won't have links until next week, but you'll be able to purchase it on Amazon, ARe, and Smashwords.

Tali Spencer and M.A. Church have graciously agreed to host some author features for me next week, so keep an eye out for those! If you're not all ready a fan of their pages, join now. Both of these ladies are absolutely awesome authors and have wonderful FREE stories on their blogs too. (I do so love that word!)

Let's see, what else... oh! If you're a fan of facebook (alas, not I) I've created an author page over there! I'm not going to update as often as my blog, of course, but you can find information on me over there too, so please give it a like if you can. The more places I'm promoting myself, the better. I kept it simple, and you'll recognize part of the url! lol

Wednesday Briefs: Never More Lonely

Hey readers! Welcome to my inaugural week as part of the Wednesday Briefs group! Each story has to be under 1k and feature one of the weekly prompts. This week I chose to use the line prompt: You are the sunshine of my ...
Now on to the story!
Never More Lonely

You are the sunshine
of my dark, lonely nighttime
bright my desire

I snort and glance at the computer. Where is he? I know I'm going a little crazy. Hell, I’m writing poetry, the last thing anyone would expect me to do.
Maybe it's the fact that my inspiration isn't someone I know in real life. My sunshine is someone I've never even met.
I scowl. What face to face we do have is late at night for me, early morning for him.
We started talking after I noticed some book reviews he'd written that mirrored my thoughts. We began bonding over books, then movies, then I told him about a local pride event I went to where one of my friends met a man he'd been chatting up online. He turned out to be in his late fifties and totally skeevy.
He laughed and then, with a hesitation I could somehow feel in his written words, he offered his skype information. 'Just so you'll know I'm not skeevy,' he'd said.
He is definitely not skeevy.
He had these geeky little glasses he hides behind but when I gave him a wolf whistle he'd laughed so hard tears came to his eyes. He took off those glasses to wipe them away and then ran his fingers through his hair.
My mouth was too dry to whistle after that. I had a thing for the geeky type but he wasn't geeky, not really. Sleek was the word that came to mind.
I was thankful my computer only showed from the waist up because I was sporting some serious wood.
For some reason he hadn't shown up for our nightly chat for the last two days. I miss his voice yawning over his coffee while I had a nightcap. I have to be up early to get to the job site and need to sleep, but still, I’m waiting.

I log off around midnight. I scrub my hands over my face as I sit on the bed. My shirt falls on the floor when I miss the hamper but I leave it there. Who is going to care? My face hits the pillow and I drag another close, holding it tight. My eyes burn.

Bang.

Bang.

"What the fuck?" I push up to see the alarm clock, groaning when I see it’s after two. "Somebody had better be dying."

I stumble to the front door.

"Who the hell is it?"

"Cooper."

I blink. No way.

"Owen? Are you there?"

It's his voice. I fumble the lock back and open the door. It is him. He looks tired and his clothes are wrinkled.

"Hey." Fuck. I'm an idiot. The first time we actually meet and that's all I come up with?

He smiles shyly. "Hey mate." His voice sounds even better in person. He stares at my bare chest as I devour the sight of his trim body from head to toe, then clears his throat. "Can I come in?"

I’m an idiot. "Of course." I move back, holding the door so he can wheel in his suitcase. "Sorry. I was sleeping."

Cooper laughs and I'm suddenly glad for my loose pajama bottoms. "People usually are at this hour. Sorry for showing up so late, my plane was delayed."

I flip on a light and we sit down on the couch.

"What are you doing here?" I blurt out. I smack myself in the forehead. I need a filter.

His eyes really do twinkle when he laughs hard. I blink and realize my earlier poetry wasn't an aberration, simply another symptom for how gone I am over Cooper.

"Would you believe work? I'm here to organize the newest branch of Bree-bard Unlimited."

We still haven't touched. "Why didn't you tell me you were coming?"

Cooper rubs his neck. "Well, I wasn't sure …"

I have to know what he isn't saying. "About?"

"Well, us. I mean, we've been chatting for a year and we've said how great it would be to meet face to face. But if it was just a visit, could we do it, you know? Could we resist this between us and stay friends, because I don't want to lose that."

I cock my head. "What made you change your mind?"

"Well, I'm going to be here for a month," he blushes and waves his hand around, "well, not here … necessarily. But here in the city."

Of course he'll stay with me. "So a month is long enough for you?" It isn't for me. If Cooper lived here though …

But he doesn't.

"It could be more. If I want, I could stay here."

Silence falls over the room so profound that it's almost like the room is swelling with noise I can't quite hear. It nearly hurts. My heart is racing.

I lick my lips. "You … You would do that?"

Cooper's eyes follow my tongue. "For us. I mean, I don't have to give the company an answer until the office opens. You don't have to commit to," he waves a hand between us, "right this second."

What? I blink. "I haven't gotten off with anyone other than my right hand in eight months because I'm too busy waiting to chat with you to go out. Committing isn't a problem," I say in a rough voice.

I watch his eyes melt behind those ridiculous glasses, turning warm at the idiocy I can't seem to stop spilling from my mouth.

"So that isn't for me?" He glances down. My pants are pulled tight and the stiff bulge is blatantly obvious.

That's it. I've been waiting for so long for him. I slide forward, capture Cooper's face, and pull off his glasses. His lips are as soft as they look and the taste of his mouth makes me moan. I sink one hand in his hair. We kiss until we are both senseless.

Gasping for air, forehead to forehead, we stare into each other's eyes.

"Stay," I tell him.

TBC? Continue or bring you something new next week, the majority will win in this case, so let me know!

Tuesday Treat

A little glimpse at an inspirational picture that shows one of my characters from tomorrow's flash piece with the Wednesday Briefers. Yep, that's right, I joined the Briefers, in case you missed that announcement last week. I haven't yet decided how I'm going to work this in and I thought I'd ask for some feedback after tomorrow's story features. I'm thinking on doing short stories, maybe one a month following the same characters with the prompts to inspire each chapter. Or ... I can do different stories each week as inspiration strikes me. You can let me know! ;)

If you're in the mood for something a little more graphic of a treat, mmm, check out VishStudio on Deviantart. I love to browse his galleries and I tell you, sometimes I get some great inspiration from the lovely pictures he takes.

The Cost of A Story

Yes, I'm putting a price on my stories. No more free fiction.

*snickers*

Are you getting ready to flame me? Okay, okay, I'm not going to stop posting free stuff.

However, I did want to share some thoughts I recently had on 'fifty cent' words and their place in fiction. These so called fifty cent words are the ones that catch your eye, the big words full of rich meaning in the English language (or whatever the author writes in).

So many times I see a story littered with them, every sentence structured to feature the words that jump out at you, sometimes even hosting two or three of them! I guess to some, that's a good thing. They like to use those fifty cent words, thinking that increases the worth of their story. This is especially true in the area of speech tags, something I strive to avoid using as much as possible.

For example: "Oh, how spectacular," she exclaimed fervently, enthralled by the landscape when she beheld the vermillion flowers carpeting the verdant meadow.

Now, my writing is all about entertainment. I'm after the picture, not the words.

I'm not trying to enlighten anyone, I'm trying to entertain. For my writing, bigger is not better. I made those mistakes at first, throwing out the unusual words that had great meaning, but became annoying and difficult to wade through for the average reader. Sure, there was little confusion for those of us who grew up reading the dictionary for fun, but for the other 99% it wasn't nearly as enjoyable. (Yes, self-confessed geek here, lol)

When writing, I've come to a realization that my whole goal is to make the words as invisible as possible. That means using simple phrases and key words to create vivid images in the reader's mind, the 'nickel words' of the fiction world you might call them. I don't want my writing to get in the way of my story, so I try to streamline everything.

Or you could just call me cheap!
For example: "Oh!" Her bright smile lit up her eyes. Her hand gripped his hard as she stared, taking in the ruby red flowers carpeting the lush meadow.

My own choice of words would be simpler but a bit more visceral. I use the word ruby to evoke a rich red color that just about everyone knows, and since most people already think of meadows as green, I used lush. It works since we usually relate the word to something really rich. I avoid the speech tag and instead show her reaction with visual cues, so the reader can see how she feels and, therefore, get a better 'picture' than if I just said she's excited.

Now, I'm not saying using big words is wrong all the time, or that they can't enhance a story. Sometimes you will have a discussion between two doctors, for example, and they'd logically use more technical words than the average person - depending on the discussion. A story set back in the Victorian era would also be more adaptable to a flowery turn of phrase.

But for regular old entertaining stories, the kind I really enjoy presenting to my readers, I think I'll stick to my trusty nickel words!

Just a reminder... New Story!

Yes, I released a brand new novella yesterday on GA, 25k and completely posted! The site is celebrating its 10th Anniversary and we had a novella anthology for part of that. The theme, Secrets Can Kill, is a bit dramatic, but applicable to a site called Gay Authors. For so many, sexuality is a secret that they are forced to carry for many reasons.

My story didn't focus on the secret of the character's sexuality, though some aspects of the culture did in fact relate to wants that Nyle was taught he shouldn't have. In my story, the focus of the secret is a much bigger issue, and one that can literally get the characters killed. Check out the teaser below, and another short excerpt. Then click on the banner to find your way to my story, and 3 more novellas for you to enjoy!

A Legend is the Key
by Cia

Set in a medieval time, on another world where magic is still possible, A Legend is the Key follows the journey of Nyle as he is called back from the temple where he was sent by the King as a youth, but he is now a man. Tragedy has struck and a war is paused because of a terrible power that has been called up and released. More is at stake than the King realizes, but it will take everything Nyle has within him to follow what his heart knows is right.

Excerpt:

Acting before he could lose his nerve, he closed the distance between them and pressed their lips together.

His intention was to distract Ken, but the result was so much more. Ken's lips were hard against his so Nyle softened the kiss and began nibbling at his bottom  lip. One hand crept up, rubbing along Ken's jaw to feel the scratchy growth of his stubble and then sinking into his newly shorn hair. He licked at the seam between Ken's lips, tasting him for the first time. It was so much more intimate than Nyle had ever expected and heat raced through his body. His hips rocked forward. Ken's hands came up and clenched in his robe.

"Please, Ken," Nyle murmured against his lips. "Come back to me."

He closed his eyes and kissed Ken again, hoping that it would work. Those hard lips softened and then Ken's hands were dragging him closer. Swaying into his hard body, Nyle moaned as his prince took over the kiss. He shuddered when a hot wet tongue probing at his mouth urged him to open to it. The feeling when he did was incredible.

Hot and wet, their tongues slid together. Nyle tentatively rubbed against Ken's tongue with his, feeling the rough slickness. He shook as if chilled and an ache set up in his balls as he rapidly hardened. His breathing was ragged and his heart raced; he'd never felt anything like it before.

He wanted more, much more.

*raises eyebrows* Did you like that? Want to see what else happens, why Nyle needs to distract Ken? Click on the banner below to go to the anthology! Members of GA (which is free) can leave reviews, or you can come back here and comment. I've also added an email address at the end of the story so that readers can contact me. Happy reading!!

P.S. For those anxiously waiting, there will be another chapter of Adverse Effects coming tomorrow!

Just a little woot woot!

Okay, dating myself with that title, but whatever! I broke 100,000 blog views!
To everyone:   You're all amazing.

Okay, now check out the interview with MA Church, it's a good one!

Author Interview: M.A. Church with an excerpt from Faded Love!

~ What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author? What has been the best compliment?
From my editors—none, really. Oh sure, they point out simple little mistakes I tend to make repeatedly and don’t catch, or tell me something needs to be expanded. That’s what they do. But so far, none of my editors have really come down on me. Sure, I’ve been handed less than glowing reviews. *Shrug* I’m learning that comes with the territory. I’ve had some readers say I should stick with nonhuman stories, lol. And nonhuman is where I’m most comfortable, but a little variety is nice also!
But the best compliment also comes from the same groups too. I’ve had editors tell me my stuff is well-written. That sure caused a glow, lol. And I’ve had readers send me emails telling me they are disabled, or a stay at home mom, or simply having a horrible day and reading a story from me helped get them through. And that is worth its weight in gold, let me let you.

~ Of all the modern conveniences, which one would you most likely say you couldn't live without?
With what I do??? LOL, the internet! Hands down, I couldn’t live without that. But, air conditioning comes in a *very* close second. When it’s a 110 degrees in the shade I get a little cranky if I can’t cool off, lol.
Cia reply: Can you imagine having to use yellow notepads, a typewriter, and actually going to the library to do research? *shudders*

~How much of your personality and life experiences are in your writing?
A lot. Oh man, a lot. There are all different sides to my personality that come out in my writing—like the snarky side so many of my characters have. Then there’s the cool, calm, and collected side. Some of the things my kids say shows up, or some of the silly things they do. My own wacky luck shows up often too, lol. J
Cia reply: So... does that mean Chad from TH is really all you? LOL

~ What are your favorite TV shows?
Hmmm. I don’t watch much TV, but I like shows like Wipeout, DIY programs on HGTV, Hell’s Kitchen … most of them tend to be short programs, lol, notice that?
Oh! Football. OMG, I love football. When the season comes back around I’m there, dude! The standing joke is not to have any emergencies on Sunday, Monday night or Thursday’s night. LOL. I *will* scream the house down if you get between me and the TV!
Cia reply: Okay, I'm not that bad but I do say watching those churning thighs and tight asses bend over in those shiny pants ... okay, are the kids in bed yet? LOL

Great little Q & A provided by MA Church. Thanks so much for letting us get a little bit more in your brain! (I think I might have left a flashlight or two behind on the tour, just so you know, it's a little dark and twisty in there!)
Ebook for Sale!! Yep, she's got another story coming out! Read on for more information.

People often say that the true perfection in the human form is in its imperfections. Scars are visceral reminders of a person's past, a sign of an event that can never fade. Whether it was gained in combat, a traumatic experience, or part of a ritual with a lover, scars are the ultimate labels. Carved in Flesh features short stories in which at least one character sports physical scars—visible to the naked eye, and prominent enough to spark a conversation.

Faded Love by M.A. Church
Excerpt:
“Will?” Ashley’s hand was gently held and pulled down. Why did Will’s voice sound so funny, like he was hoarse? “Will? What’s going on? Where am I? What’s on my face?”
“Listen to me. You’re in the hospital.”
“Hospital? Why the hell am I in the hospital?” Straining, he was finally able to make out the pale walls, and smell a scent he had always associated with hospitals: cleaners and sickness.
“You don’t remember… anything?” Will bent over Ashley, still holding his hands. God, Will’s skin was so warm, and his was so cold. “Tell me what you remember.”
“Was on my way home from that shoot. You called. I was going to call you back… Will?” Ashley’s voice rose and cracked. “Then, nothing until now. What—what… Will?”
One of Will’s strong hands managed to loosen itself from Ashley’s death grip and brushed Ashley’s hair back from his face. “You’re in the hospital. There was an accident, a bad accident. You were hit on the way home two days ago.”
“Fuck me! Two days ago?” Ashley bit his lip as pain spiked in his ribs. “How bad? Who hit me?”
“It was pretty bad. You have bruised ribs from the impact with the steering wheel, your arm is bruised—not broken—and more bruises over your body. I forgot the driver’s name. They hit you on the passenger side, slammed you into a street light. Two people in the other car died.”
“Died? Jesus.” Every time Ashley tried to lift his hand to his face, Will stopped him. “What’s wrong with my vision? Why can I only see out of one side?”
Gripping his hand, Will hesitated. “You were struck so hard your head hit the driver side window.”
Ashley gripped Will’s hand. There was more, he just knew it. What little he could make out of Will’s concerned face told him that. “And? Tell me, dammit!”
“The window busted. There was glass everywhere. Oh God, Ashley, I’m so sorry. You were cut. On your face… and—and… there’s going to be a scar.”
“A scar?” Ashley whispered, and then his voice gained in strength as horror stabbed at him. “A scar, on my face? My face? No! Oh my God, no! How bad, Will? How fucking bad?”
Tears soaked Will’s voice. “From the hair line to under your chin. Jesus, Ashley. I’m so sorry.”
The screams from Ashley’s room brought most of the nursing staff at a dead run.

Update!

Okay folks! Lots going on, and I'm sorry I've been neglecting the blog still. Life is sometimes a little...

wack a doodle!

However, I've a few things coming up I wanted to let you all know about. First, I have a special novella going live tomorrow on Gay Author's website for the 10th anniversary! The best part... it's totally complete! No waiting for chapters! Make sure you check A Legend is the Key! I'm putting a link in the graphic so you can view it tomorrow. It won't work until then, though. When you're done with mine, check out the other authors who participated!

Tomorrow, I'm hosting an interview with one of my favorite authors, M.A. Church, and featuring a new story she has being published!

I've also joined the Wednesday Briefers, a wonderfully varied group of authorsw, so you'll be guaranteed to get a flash piece out of me every Wednesday now, with links to other great stories! I'd like to thank them for including me and the warm welcomes I received.

That's it, I guess ... and happy hump day. As a treat for those who kept reading once they realized this wasn't an update for Adverse Effects...

Another one of Vish's gorgeous artistic nudes...
